This fudge is a great choice for remembering Joan. She was all about the easy, uncomplicated desserts and she LOVED fudge. I remember her excitement over this recipe this past summer. She had no patience for the thought of waiting until the holidays to enjoy your favorite treats!

You can make on the stove top as well. Just keep it on maybe low and slowly melt the chocolate.

Double boiler method perhaps?

Only began following blogs in March, but Joans’was one of my first. Hubby loves chocolate and I love to bake and cook so… Seems all the blogs I follow say the same wondrous things about Joan. Have a board on Pinterest in honor of Joan, “The Best of Chocolate”.Goal is to pin ALL of Joans’creations, but also those of her friends as well. You all spread her love and shared. Personal stories about Joan. Her spirit will live on, as well as her blog. Pray for the family and all if you to find peace and comfort at this time. Such a wonderful, be it all too short, life and legacy Joan has!

I tried this recipe with chocolate bar..
I chopped chocolate n poured hot condensed milk on it..n thn microwave it on high for 30 secs thn again 30csecs..bt i wasnt able to cut it coz it was too loose to cut so i microwaved again bt theresult was same…y my fudge remainsso soft?
Darlene says
Probably not enough chocolate in the batch to make it firm up. Did you use 16 oz of chopped chocolate and was it a firm chocolate bar to begin with. (there are firmer and softer chocolate bars on the market).
Try adding more chocolate to the mixture, it may firm it up. Or use some powdered (aka #10, Confectionery or Icing) sugar. That will also firm it up for you.

Here Gardner says
Had the same problem, fudge too soft, thank you , will add more or a ” hardier ” chocolate , my mokos love this chocolate fudge ????????????
Sharon says
You has to bring to a rolling boil for 6 full minutes, that is the key problem if your fudge was to soft.
Ruthie says
good & tasty I added mini marshmallows & made balls & pressed in gently red/green mini M&M’s for Christmas cookie trays! Be creative Oh<Ithen store in freezer in airtight tupperware or container. When serving no need to defrost it'll be edible.

I’ve been making fudge this way for years; don’t even remember where I found it – maybe on a can of Eagle Brand… I usually make several batches this time of year for us, the kids, the neighbors…
Hugs & Cookies xoxo says
yum!!
Cynthia says
I tried is an my fudge never hardened up. I could cut it, but it wasn’t firm enough to hold the cut. Suggestions?
Thx
CRrie says
This recipe is on the Eagle brand condensed milk can. I’ve been making it for years
Evelyn says
Can you add walnuts? If so, how much for this recipe? Thanks.
Hugs & Cookies xoxo says
I would try a half cup and see if you want more.
Terry says
Consider Substituting:
Butterscotch Chips
Cherry Chips with thin layer of melted Chocolate Chips on top
White Chocolate Chips with a tint of green food coloring and a hint of Mint flavoring to taste
18 oz. Creamy p-nut butter and one can of white prepared frosting for a rich creamy Fudge. (also makes a nice top layer over the original Chocolate Fudge …. but use one size larger pan or it will be too
thick)
Consider the pink cherry batch over the mint green one for a pretty Spring treat.
Use your imagination with flavors and colors.
heather says
Can I melt this down in a double boiler? Trying to rid the microwave from our lives.
Hugs & Cookies xoxo says
sure!
debi says
I use 3 cups of chips. It is so easy. I have used white chips and added peppermint pieces. I have also added dried cherries and golden raisins to white chips.
Lynn says
I use 3 cups of chocolat chips me too…..But I use the small can of Eagle Bran, and 1 cup of nuts.
Gail P says
I love making this quick and easy fudge but I make an addition of a stick of butter or 1/2 cup of peanut butter. It comes out softer but cuts beautifully and has a better texture. I also like to add tons of chopped nuts. My favorite version is chocolate peanut butter with walnuts. This is equally good if not sweeter using butterscotch chips or a combination of chips. The sky’s the limit!
Hugs & Cookies xoxo says
Oooh I am going to try it YOUR way!!! U use a whole stick of butter huh? Mmmmmmm!!!
Gail P says
Yes, a whole stick of butter. It needs to be refrigerated until it sets up and that means the butter gets firm again. It’s so hard to wait once you smell that delicious chocolate aroma in the house.
Hugs & Cookies xoxo says
Gail-tried it -loved-made a video-stay tuned! Thanks for the butter idea!!!
LaDonna says
So what would you use to make it peanut butter flavor? This is so good, but I thought about using a little choc. almond bark tosee it would firm up a little more.
Crystal says
Use peanut butter chips.
Gail P says
A common mistake people make is in using evaporated milk thinking it’s the same as sweetened condensed – NO WAY! That would leave the fudge runny.
donna says
I have also been using this recipe for years. It also makes great truffles. Just ad flavoring and your favorite to roll the finished truffle or dip them in chocolate. Great gifts. Yum
Kate says
I made this last night but it didn’t set like the picture. Can I reheat and add more chocolate?
Hugs & Cookies xoxo says
I am not sure that would work. 🙁
Debra says
Just wanted to say thank you for all the great recipes. You make the dishes so easy.

Hi
I was wondering if this stays set enough to sit out of the fridge at all? I like that there isn’t all the added sugar of other recipes, but I am thinking it probably melts really quickly.
Thanks!

depends how cool your house is
