My Mom’s Famous Butter Cookies
  • 2 sticks butter
  • ¾c. sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • pinch salt
  • 2½c. flour
  • ½ tsp. baking powder
  1. Heat butter in a microwave safe bowl just until it is very soft (not all liquid)
  2. By hand, stir in sugar.
  3. Add egg and vanilla.
  4. Stir in flour, salt, baking powder.
  5. Line baking sheet with parchment.
  6. Roll balls of dough and place on pan.
  7. Flatten each with your hand.
  8. Bake 8-10 mins until lightly browned at 400.
  9. Let cool
  10. For glaze:
  11. Pour some confectioners sugar in a bowl. Add a little milk at a time until desired consistency and a drop of vanilla. Tint with food coloring. My mom always used pink and green! Spread on cookies. Let set.
