My Mom’s Famous Butter Cookies

Ingredients
  

  • 2 sticks butter
  • ¾ c. sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • pinch salt
  • 2 ½ c. flour
  • ½ tsp. baking powder

Instructions
 

  • Heat butter in a microwave safe bowl just until it is very soft (not all liquid)
  • By hand, stir in sugar.
  • Add egg and vanilla.
  • Stir in flour, salt, baking powder.
  • Line baking sheet with parchment.
  • Roll balls of dough and place on pan.
  • Flatten each with your hand.
  • Bake 8-10 mins until lightly browned at 400.
  • Let cool
  • For glaze:
  • Pour some confectioners sugar in a bowl. Add a little milk at a time until desired consistency and a drop of vanilla. Tint with food coloring. My mom always used pink and green! Spread on cookies. Let set.
