My Mom’s Famous Butter Cookies
There are butter cookies and then there are MY MOM”S butter cookies. Look no where else. This is the only recipe that you will need! Thin, crispy, buttery, delicious!!!! My mom made these for my 6th grade field trip to Frost Valley and we all loved them. That was over 30 years ago and they are still my favorite today!!!! My Mom’s Famous Butter Cookies
Ingredients
- 2 sticks butter
- ¾ c. sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- pinch salt
- 2 ½ c. flour
- ½ tsp. baking powder
Instructions
- Heat butter in a microwave safe bowl just until it is very soft (not all liquid)
- By hand, stir in sugar.
- Add egg and vanilla.
- Stir in flour, salt, baking powder.
- Line baking sheet with parchment.
- Roll balls of dough and place on pan.
- Flatten each with your hand.
- Bake 8-10 mins until lightly browned at 400.
- Let cool
- For glaze:
- Pour some confectioners sugar in a bowl. Add a little milk at a time until desired consistency and a drop of vanilla. Tint with food coloring. My mom always used pink and green! Spread on cookies. Let set.
