I have made a lot of sugar cookies along the way but this is THE recipe! The only one you really need! These cookies were loved by everyone in my family from my mom to my kids! Definitely give these a try soon and treat your loved ones to the ultimate sugar cookies!
The Ultimate Sugar Cookies
Ingredients
Cookies
- 1 cup butter soft
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- ½ teaspoon kosher salt
- 4½ cups flour
Frosting
- ½ cup butter soft
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- ½ teaspoon vanilla
- 1 tablespoon milk
- 1-2 Tablespoons sour cream
- optional - pink food coloring
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. .
- Beat butter, oil and both sugars until smooth.
- Add eggs, vanilla, baking soda, cream of tartar and salt.
- On low, add flour.
- Chill dough 30 mins.
- Using a large ice cream scoop, place dough on sheet.
- With the bottom of a glass, press down on each cookie.
- Bake 12 mins.
- Cool before frosting.
Frosting
- Beat butter.
- Add sugar.
- Add vanilla, milk, sour cream and coloring.
- Beat until fluffy.
- If too thin, add more sugar. If too thick add more milk.
- Frost each cookie!
