Copycat Red Lobster Cheddar Garlic Biscuits
Ingredients
- 3 cups flour
- 1 T. sugar
- 1 T + 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ¾ teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- ½ cup butter grated and frozen
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 egg beaten
- 8 ounces sharp cheddar cheese shredded and kept cold
- Extra buttermilk to brush on biscuit tops
Garlic Butter
- 4 T. melted butter
- 2 garlic cloves smashed and minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley chopped
- salt to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425 degrees F.
- Grease 10 inch cast iron skillet lightly with crisco.
- In a mixer, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, garlic powder, and salt.
- Add the butter until mixture is crumbly with some butter chunks.
- Add the buttermilk and egg.
- Add the cheese and combine.
- Roll on a floured counter into 12x16 rectangle.
- Fold into thirds like a letter and reroll to 1 inch thick.
- Ue a 2 1/2 inch round cutter to press down and cut biscuits. (Don't twist)
- I fit 12 into the cast iron skillet and saved 6 in the freezer for another day.
- Brush each biscuit with buttermilk.
- Bake approx. 20 mins.
- Remove and brush with the garlic butter.
