HERE IS THE SET-UP I HAD READY FOR A BAKING DATE WITH MY NIECE!
SHE COLORED ALL THE BATTERS ON HER OWN! 6 COLORS FOR OUR TIE DYE CAKE!
OOH LA LA! INTO THE OVEN-HOW COOL DOES THAT LOOK!
TIME TO COOL OUR PSYCHEDELIC LAYERS!
FROSTING FUN! LOOK HOW SHE ADDED PINK SPRINKLES-LOVE IT!
OOOH, MY FAVE! FROSTING TIME! WE USED THE TUBES OF GEL FROSTING FOR THIS AND A PAINTBRUSH!!!
OMG, I MEAN REALLY! HOW CUTE IS SHE!!! AND SO FOCUSED, TOO! THAT’S MY GIRL!
WE WERE PSYCHED TO CUT IN THERE!!!
HERE IS OUR SLICE!
HOPE YOU TRY THIS ONE!
MY NIECE AND I MADE THIS FABULOUSLY EXCITING AND FUN CAKE TOGETHER!!!! WE MADE IT USING 2 BOX MIXES AND A LOT OF VIBRANT FOOD COLORS. EACH BOX MIX MADE 2 LAYERS SO WE DID IT IN 2 SEPARATE BATCHES. FROM THE 2 BOX MIXES, WE MADE 3 LAYERS FOR THE CAKE AND 6 TIE DYE CUPCAKES! I DIDN’T GET A CHANCE TO PHOTO THE FROSTED CUPCAKES AS THE BOYS WERE EATING THEM FASTER THAN WE COULD SNAP PICTURES! HEAD OVER TO BIRD ON A CAKE FOR THE TUTORIAL! SHE EXPLAINS IT BETTER THAN I CAN!!!

Gorgeous Cake! Great job to her and you Auntie! I will try this out with my daughter and her cousin… They will just love this! Thanks for the Treat of an idea, and the pics as you’ve made it.
Crystal Kohorst says
I think I would use skittles instead of M n M’s on the TieDye cake 🙂
annie says
Skittles wouldn’t go well with cake whereas chocolate m&m’s would work good together
Heather says
Where’s the recipe at? On how to make this??
danielle says
If you read between the pics it explains how to do it-just boxed cakes with food coloring-follow the pics i posted for the frosting design.
Lynn Taylor Proctor says
You could actually use white cake mix and add different flavoring to each color as well!!! (Orange, lemon, almond…)
Charlotte Gordon says
Can’t wait to do this with my granddaughter….she’s going o love it
danielle says
have fun!!
Donna D'Arcy says
I used the Duff cake mix and made cupcakes with my grandchildren., ages 2-8. Next time I will use this recipe. We used chocolate frosting with fluorescent sprinkles. They had so much fun, they asked me to 2 bring two cake mixes next time.
danielle says
awesome!! I wondered about his mix-u still have to color each portion with his?
annie says
Great job thanx for sharing
Brenda says
How did you pour the batter in the pans so the colors stayed separate and in a circle?
danielle says
I just poured slowly and did not stir it or move it too much. The batter is thick enough to not run.
