Cinnamon Roll Casserole
Cinnamon roll casserole is the dreamiest breakfast you can imagine. Perfect for a Christmas morning treat or a birthday breakfast for your loved ones! These cinnamon rolls are reminiscent of my childhood. My mom would always buy them (yup, the ones in the can!) and they were so delish with the white icing in that small tub. Did you grow up with these, too? Do you remember the popping sound when you cracked open the can? Now they are even better baked up into a french toast casserole ….special enough for your favorite company! Warning: Your house will smell absolutely amazing while this bakes in the oven! Your company will certainly love you for this one and may never want to leave your house! What a perfect way to keep your family smiling and well fed!

Am a tad older than you, but I do remember the cinnamon rolls. As well as the turnovers that came out of the tube. As in when they FIRST were available! Maybe early 70’s?Anyway,times were tough, and it was a HUGE treat to have either. Usually on a Saturday morning. Would be so excited to smell the distinct scent those bad boys gave out. Thanks for the yummy upgrade in using them!Happy Holidays!

I don’t know where to comment.
But I did this recipe and it was more like nas cinnamon omelette. I think it’s too many eggs. I don’t know… maybe will try again, but 2 eggs, I think will be just right, thanks for the recipe
Lc says
Leave the syrup off…makes it WAY too sweer.
WINIFRED RANDALL says
SYRUP ALWAYS GOES WITH FRENCH TOAST SO HOW ABOUT LEAVING THE ICING OFF IF IT IS TOO SWEET.
Dena Chappell says
I sprinkled the maple syrup and dusted with powered sugar
Hugs & Cookies xoxo says
mmmmmmmmm
Peggy says
Thanks! I was wondering about this!
Christine Cross says
How about syrup on the side?
Nancy says
Have you made these? Just wondering, TIA
amanda says
i am gluten free, how would you modify this yummy recipe to make this gluten free?
Hugs & Cookies xoxo says
That is tough-can you get gf cinnamon rolls?
Heather says
There is a cinnamon roll recipe on the gluten free bisquick box 🙂
Cyndy says
Prepared these over the holidays since we had guests and it was a big hit! While they are sweet and bit of an indulgence, we all felt we were eating something nourishing since it had so many eggs in it! Will definitely make this again :).
Hugs & Cookies xoxo says
love the egg theory and completely agree!
Cherie Dailey says
Can you make this the night before and refrigerate?
Hugs & Cookies xoxo says
not sure -may get mushy
Rick says
It’ll do just fine overnight. Just pop it back in the oven on warm (170-190) for a few minutes, and leave the icing off ’til you’re about to serve it.
Bee says
Wouldn’t it need to be in the oven for more than a few minutes if if has been refrigerated overnight?
julie says
I think she means if if you cooked it before putting it in the fridge
toyia says
Is the syrup necessary?
Lynne says
Can I make this with my own cinnamon roll dough? I hate buying premade dough! Thank you 🙂 It looks wonderful and I know my kids–and we parents(!)–would love it.
Lfavshorty says
Sure. It’s probably less work with the store bought kind
Carol says
I will be trying this for Thanksgiving brunch, sounds like a winner!!
Hugs & Cookies xoxo says
yay!!!
Angie says
Can you make this a head of time and freeze it?
Catherine says
This is the BEST receipe that I have come across in a long time. My grandchildren request it every time they have a sleep over with Grandma.
Hugs & Cookies xoxo says
How awesome! Happy Turkey day!!!
Lucy says
Hi, I was wondering if this dough is ok to refrigerate overnight once it’s rolled?
Hugs & Cookies xoxo says
I don’t think so!!!
Dawn says
Do you use the Grands biscuits?
Hugs & Cookies xoxo says
o the pillsbury cinn rolls.
Annette says
If you double up on the wet ingredients would that make it like a bread pudding?
Dianna says
Since the dough isn’t baked yet it will be drier than a bread pudding. But you can bake the cinnamon rolls first then follow the recipe except soak the baked cinnamon rolls that are cut up in the liquid then cook and it would be a bread pudding texture. It is also really yummy to use croissants for bread pudding!
steve ware says
how do you make the icing? Is this a store bought item?
Hugs & Cookies xoxo says
Yes!
Susan says
Icing is in the pop open can of cinnamon rolls
Diana says
I’m thinking about making these and maybe add in some diced apples. It sounds sooooo good.
Misty says
Ooooh, that sounds awesome! Think I’ll try it!
Hugs & Cookies xoxo says
enjoy!
Lori Greening says
I added bacon. Its all the rage at teachers breakfasts AND my house
Hugs & Cookies xoxo says
mmmmmmm
Jenny Varnum says
Bacon on top as garnish?
Jamie says
There’s a recipe on Tasty that has the apples in it!
Jenny Varnum says
How did the diced apples work out? One or two? Any modifications needed for adding apples?
Sandy says
How do you make the icing?
Hugs & Cookies xoxo says
It comes w the rolls.
Keren says
You can always use softened butter with a little dash of milk and confection sugar mix it really well turns into a very thick icing basically the same stuff they use
Brooklyn says
Hello,
These look delicious. Unfortunately I’ll be going out of town tomorrow, but can I make these tomorrow afternoon without baking? And then cover them in the pan and have the family cook them on Sunday or Monday? Will it still be okay?
Hugs & Cookies xoxo says
Not sure as I have never tried that.Sorry!!
Awna says
Are you supposed tocool the cinnamon rolls first and then beeak them up?
Aimee says
You don’t cook them first… yiu cut up the cinnamon roll dough add all the wet and cook
Jennifer says
Wonder if this will work with orange cinnamon rolls?
Chiquita says
What happens if you forgot to grease the pan?
Hugs & Cookies xoxo says
Oops! Did it come out ok?
Air-rica says
This was good but there was an egg layer at the bottom of our cinnamon rolls. Next time I will use 2 or 3 eggs instead of 4.
We also made our own icing. Cream cheese, vanilla, milk and powdered sugar!
Angel says
I had the same problem had scramble eggs on the bottom I didn’t not care to much for that but my mom’s group loved it thanks for the great reciep I think next time I make it I will make it with less eggs.
Bella Windham says
Same here. It was definitely like a soggy, spongy egg texture. Overall the recipe was good, but I will also cut down to maybe three eggs next time.
ALisha says
I was thinking of tossing all the cut up cinnamon rolls in the wet ingredients then putting in bowl so there isn’t a layer of egg on the bottom! I’ll pribably use less wet ingredients! We’ll see!
Liv says
Bake covered or uncovered?
Hugs & Cookies xoxo says
uncov
jvo says
Making this for Easter! I can’t believe some of the comments on here..
Crystalini says
This looks amazing, and I can’t wait to make it and try it! Quick question, sorry if it’s been asked already, how may servings is this? 🙂
Cinnamon says
I’m making this as I am typing and it looks so delicious and it’s not even cooked yet. Thank you so much for the recipe
Hugs & Cookies xoxo says
yay!!
Kristy says
Is this two packages of 5 or two packages of 8? Thanks!
Hugs & Cookies xoxo says
8
Jan says
This looks very interesting! Liked the idea one reader had about adding apple slices. Then we can call it healthy…LOL…think if I do that I would make small chunks and toss them in cinnamon.
Allyson says
I’ve made this a few times since I found this online a few weeks ago, and my husband and I love it! Question, how would you recommend freezing it? We are due with our first child in a few months and this is on my list for foods to “prepare in advance” once the baby comes.
Hugs & Cookies xoxo says
hmm maybe in a tupperware? Good luck with the baby!!!
Mary says
Just like regular cinnamon rolls. I use a large Ziploc bag.
Or a 13×9 plastic container
Jill says
Should you refrigerate after baking or is it ok to leave out?
Hugs & Cookies xoxo says
After you serve, I would chill the leftovers-if there are any!
Autumn Hardie says
Cut back on the syrup and add apples instead. It is sooooo yummy.
Rose says
Made it this morning. I didn’t have maple syrup so I left it out. It was still plenty sweet enough (due to the icing) and it was DELICIOUS! I’ll definitely make it again!
Hugs & Cookies xoxo says
awesome!
Elysia says
Made this for brunch as it is a cold and snowy day. We loved it.
Tara Jo says
Out of milk (husband drinks 2 gallons a day) substitute?!?!!
Joi says
If I were you, Tara Jo, I’d buy shelf milk to have on hand for cooking (or drinking). You find it over in the baking department near the nonfat dry milk, and you can keep it in your pantry. You can buy almond milk like this, too. I always have some on hand in case of emergencies.
Stephanie says
This looks so yummy. Will be making it today. I’m going to add some raisins and shredded coconut too. I think it will be delicious. Also cutting recipe in half. It’s way to much for two people. Just gonna use 8×8 pan. I think it will work out fine.
Tina says
What a delicious quick easy treat this is. Thank you
Robyn says
Cooking for just 2 of us. In an 8×8 how long do you think to cook? I will halve all ingredients
Donna says
This is crazy good!! Rich and sweet, and a perfect compliment to a savory quiche ????
Lori says
I made this recipe as written, for breakfast this morning. My husband, son and grandson loved it. They thought the sweetness factor was spot on and not too sweet. I made cheesy scrambled eggs along side, which helped cut down on the sweetness of the French toast. I will definitely make this again in the future. Thanks for sharing
Carol says
This didn’t quite hit the spot for us. The cinnamon rolls, sure! But there was a base of eggs at the bottom which gave a jarring savory taste that we didn’t care for. If I make it again, will mix the syrup into the eggs and that should work.
Hugs & Cookies xoxo says
Sorry it wasn’t a hit for you!
Mary Lee Berg says
I wonder if some of the people that had a base of eggs at the bottom only used one tube of cinnamon rolls. Probably wouldn’t be enough cinnamon rolls to soak up the eggs. I’m wondering about adding a can of apple pie filling–maybe a little at a time. A whole can might be too much.
Hugs & Cookies xoxo says
Yum on the apples!
