RECIPE TIME!
BEST SUGAR COOKIES FOR HOLIDAY DECORATING!
Ingredients
Cookies
- 3 c flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 sticks butter
- 1 egg
- 2 Tablespoons milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Royal Icing
- 1 pound confectioners' sugar
- 3 tablespoons meringue powder
- Scant 1/2 cup water
Instructions
Cookies
- Beat butter and sugar.
- Add egg, milk, vanilla and mix.
- Add flour.
- Pat into a disk and roll out with a rolling pin.
- I like to use a combo of flour/powdered sugar for rolling out the dough!
- Use a cookie cutter for shapes and lay on parchment lined cookie sheet
- Bake 12-15 mins depending on size. Cool and frost!
Royal Icing
- Beat ingredients in a mixer bowl on low speed until smooth, about 7 minutes. If icing is too thick, add more water; if too thin, beat 2 to 3 minutes more. Add coloring.
APPLY SPRINKLES WHILE ICING IS WET!
Another ideas: Dip the unfrosted cookies in melted chocolate and add sprinkles!!!!
